Black History Month At EB

Carla Maia, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Coordinator
February is Black History Month in the United States, Canada and in the United Kingdom. It's a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and history of Black individuals and communities. During this month at EB, students will benefit from different activities, discussions, and visitors to provide meaningful and engaging experiences related to Black and Brown history, culture, and impact. Find resources we’ll be using, and you can too, throughout Black History Month in February, and beyond!
February is Black History Month in the United States, Canada and in the United Kingdom. Black History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements, contributions, and history of Black individuals and communities.

Any opportunity to highlight the often-overlooked accomplishments of Black people throughout history. A time to honor and reflect upon the significant contributions of Black individuals in various fields such as science, literature, politics, sports, and the arts.

As a school, it is our responsibility to educate our students about the diverse histories and experiences that have shaped our country and to foster a sense of respect and appreciation for all cultures. At EB, we engage students in a broader and more accurate understanding of history, as well as celebrating Black Identity, Voice and Joy.

In 2023, EB welcomed "Young, Gifted & Black" to the Outdoor Amphitheater for a live poetry performance.
During this month, students will benefit from different activities, discussions, and visitors to provide meaningful and engaging experiences related to Black and Brown history, culture, and impact.
