Meet The 2023 EB Student Support Team!

Led by veteran educator, Bénédicte Cambon, The Student Support Team (SST) plays a unique and important role in nurturing students' academic and emotional growth during their time here at EB. With individual expertise in special education, counseling, language development, and personalized support, the availability of this team ensures that every student receives the guidance and assistance they need to excel, thrive and truly belong in the world.

FRENCH LEARNING SPECIALIST & SST COORDINATOR: Bénédicte Cambon

Bénédicte Cambon holds a State Diploma of Psychometrics. She worked as an occupational therapist in a special needs school (motor and sensory disabilities, dysphasia). Afterward, Bénédicte obtained her teaching credentials and taught several years in France before being hired at EB in 1997, where she primarily taught first grade. She has been part of the G1-G2 looping team for 8 years before collaborating with the Student Support Team and the Lower School Faculty to enhance the students' experience. Bénédicte and her husband, Mark, have two daughters: Clarisse and Amélie. **Bénédicte is also serving as the French Curriculum Coordinator while Elodie Resurreccion is on maternity leave.

LEARNING SPECIALIST: Danielle Roberts, Ph.D.
Danielle Roberts, Ph.D., was raised in Southern California in a household where both French and Italian were spoken, with her father hailing from France and her mother from Italy. In 2000, Danielle and her partner moved to the Bay Area, where they have resided ever since.

Entering her third year as the English Learning Specialist for grades K-8 at EB, Danielle brings over two decades of experience in the field of education. Her responsibilities as the part-time Learning Specialist at EB include conducting assessments, such as the DIBELS, to identify students' reading strengths, learning preferences, and areas that require attention. She also provides individualized intervention, either individually or in small groups, using evidence-based techniques to address specific learning challenges. Danielle collaborates closely with teachers to provide a unified approach in supporting students facing learning challenges in the classroom.

Danielle holds a Master’s degree in Special Education, specializing in school psychology, and a Doctorate in Developmental Psychological Sciences with a focus on learning disabilities. Personally, she is a proud mother to two wonderful daughters, Reese and Remi.

FRENCH SPEECH THERAPIST (ORTHOPHONIST): Stephanie Poulain
Stephanie Poulain is French, born in Paris. She studied to become a speech therapist and graduated in 2009. Stephanie practiced for 7 years in Paris before moving to Berkeley in March 2016. She has two children at EB and started working with EB in 2020 to support children, helping them strengthen their language skills and become more confident and independent in their learning. Stephanie also teaches at the Alliance Française de Berkeley, where she enjoys teaching French to students, taking into account their cultures, skills, and hobbies, helping them discover the sounds of the language, syntax, and grammar, and introducing them to the French communication codes.

LOWER SCHOOL COUNSELOR: Sara Parks-Urbano
Sara Parks-Urbano was born in Berkeley and attended kindergarten and first grade outside of Toulouse. She lives in Berkeley with her husband, parents, two daughters, and a little dog. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Washington, her School Counseling Credential from UC Berkeley, and is a certified Life Coach. Sara is passionate about helping individuals from all walks of life stand in their power and love their own personal stories. She has worked in the Indigenous community in Seattle, with HIV+ teens in San Francisco, and as a committed volunteer and counselor in the Berkeley Public Schools. Sara is honored to continue her school counseling work at EB.

FLE(Français langue étrangère/French as a second language) / ESL: Katherine Thai Dewaele
Katherine Thai Dewaele is a Ph.D. candidate in Slavic Languages and Literatures at UC Berkeley and holds a certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from UC Berkeley, where she taught reading and composition, Russian language, and cultural history courses for over six years. She also completed her Early Childhood Education credits this past summer. Katherine is fluent in Russian, French, and English and is a lifelong language learner. Since 2022, Katherine has been working at EB as a long-term substitute in French and English and as an Etude teacher in CP. Katherine’s multicultural and plurilingual background and love of teaching make her the ideal candidate for being the new primary English and FLE/ESL teacher. **Katherine is also serving as the French teacher for TPS while Elodie Resurreccion is on maternity leave.

FRENCH CURRICULUM COORDINATOR: Elodie Resurreccion (currently on maternity leave until January 2024)
Elodie Resurreccion has been working at EB for six years, as a teacher, learning specialist, and now French Curriculum Coordinator. She enjoys supporting teachers to be their best for all students. Prior living in the United States, she was a special education teacher in France. She has a Bilingual MA in Education, Teaching, and Training Careers. A lifelong learner, she is most inspired by multilingualism and pedagogy, but also loves exploring and being outside.

ENGLISH COORDINATOR: Emily Kaltenbach
Emily Kaltenbach has taught at the elementary school level for over ten years with an emphasis on literacy and language learning in bilingual environments. She has worked in France, Belgium, and the Bay Area at both public and international schools. Emily comes to EB after teaching English at the Lycée Français de San Francisco for eight years. She loves what students can accomplish using their multilingual abilities.

HEAD OF PRIMARY & EARLY YEARS: Magali Noth
Ms. Noth graduated with a Masters in Education from Mills College. She then worked at Mills as a Teacher’s Trainer and a Lecturer for two years and in 2002, she was hired to work as the Program Director of Old Firehouse School, a preschool in Lafayette. She worked there for seven years and during her tenure worked closely with the Executive Director to open two new preschools. Magali started working at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley in 2010 as the Dean of Student Life, then as the coordinator of Cycle 1. In 2011, she introduced SEL to EB and helped develop a program that is fully implemented now. In 2017, she became the Head of the Preschool and Kindergarten (Maternelle). In 2021, she became the Head of the Primary and Early Years. She is one of the founders of the SST team at EB (created in 2012). In her spare time, Magali has taught classes through Sonoma State Extension and Diablo Valley College, all focused on Early Childhood Education.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT SUPPORT STAFF

MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR: Milan Zydow
Milan Zydow serves as the School Counselor and High School Placement Counselor at EB. He has a Master of Science in counseling psychology and is dually licensed as a Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist (LMFT), and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Milan has extensive training with Dr. David Burns at Stanford University in an approach to Cognitive Behavior Therapy called T.E.A.M. He is bilingual in French and English and enjoys spending time with his bilingual family, which includes his French wife and two sons aged 19 and 21 (who are EB graduates). Milan is also an ultra-endurance triathlete and recently took up surfing with his younger son.

MIDDLE SCHOOL DEAN: Chrissy Greer
Chrissy Greer is the Middle School Dean and teaches 8th-grade Social Studies, as well as a few International Track classes. As Middle School Dean, she works closely with the student body, leading the Student Council, coordinating the Middle School Advisory program, and supporting student needs as part of the Student Support Team in various capacities. Ms. Greer is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where she received her BS in Social Science and BA in History. She spent seven years at Aspire Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy in Oakland, where she was Student Culture Lead, a mentor teacher, and a 6th through 11th-grade humanities teacher. Ms. Greer was recognized as Oakland Unified School District Charter School Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the 2014-15 school year. She has a 3-year-old son who is a TPS student at EB and a 6-month-old son who is excited to attend EB in the future!

MIDDLE SCHOOL HEAD: Fabien Lombard
With more than 17 years of experience in various capacities and grade levels in Middle and High School, Fabien Lombard has honed his skills in education, organization, and connecting with students, parents, and colleagues. His experience and love for education align perfectly with the philosophy and resources offered by EB, and he is thrilled at the prospect of joining the community. Throughout his career, Fabien has achieved several milestones, including organizing educational programs, setting up departments, training teachers, and supporting education programs that pull from the strengths of both French and American systems.
