"Les Petits Champions de la Lecture" Comes to EB

EB held its first-ever Les Petits Champions de la Lecture final, where fourth and fifth graders showcased their reading talents in French. It was a true celebration of expression, courage, and the love of literature!

by Mathieu Edan, Fourth Grade French Teacher

On Wednesday, January 21, we held the very first EB School Final of Les Petits Champions de la Lecture. All 34 G4 and 31 G5 students gathered together, book in hand, to offer us their very best read-aloud performances.

Throughout the afternoon, students took turns reading their favorite excerpts aloud in front of an attentive audience made up of their classmates and a distinguished jury: Fabien Lombard, Geneviève Géant, Flo Zacharov, along with five middle school students — Devin, Matteo, Anaïs, Jérôme, and Arthur.

After an hour and a half filled with intonation, articulation, expression, and careful attention to punctuation, the jury reached its final decision: Miles P and Yelibe M are our first EB laureates of 2026! A special mention for these two champions, who achieved this wonderful success without having French-speaking parents at home !

A huge congratulations to the entire CM1–CM2 cohort, who showed great commitment and courage in taking on this demanding exercise of reading aloud. For one inspiring afternoon, they brought us together alongside Roald Dahl, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Sempé and Goscinny, J.K. Rowling, Jean de La Fontaine, and many others.

Finally, our warmest thanks go to Coach Vincent and all the Parents, the Facilities team (Alfonso, Sergio, Daniel, and Miguel), as well as Élodie and Magali, for organizing such a wonderful event.

We now wish the very best of luck to Miles and Yelibe, who will represent EB at the North America Zone Final, with a 3-minute read-aloud performance!

Until our next adventures…
