EB PA Lantern Event (NEW DATE - ZOOM)

This year EB will host its first Lantern Celebration. On March 22, 2022 at 8am, EB kids will come to school with customized lanterns to showcase to our community. In the evening, we'll come together for a special evening over Zoom. Our hope is to brighten the hearts and minds of ourselves and those around us while bringing peace and joy to all. Our EB PA Lantern Celebration elucidates warmth and high regard, nurtures inquisitiveness and creativity, and raises empathy, knowledge, and understanding within our widely diverse, multi-dimensional community. Additionally, the event:
  • Invites, welcomes, and embraces all families while encouraging mutual respect.
  • Magnifies unique perspectives of each family with an overarching message that everyone belongs.
  • Supports deep self and familial reflection and mindfulness.
  • Assists with event participation inequities by distributing complimentary kits to each child and family.
  • Provides an opportunity to elevate EB sub-cultural awareness , as well as, a safe space for all EB families (sub-communities) to share their diverse lived experiences, backgrounds, challenges, cultures, differences, experiences, needs, similarities, traditions, values, voices, etc.
  • Offers a broadened perspective of how each EB sub-community fits into the larger EB community.
  • Illuminates the beauty and power in diversity and the whole EB community coming together.
  • Influences cultural competency by peaking curiosity and interest.
  • Inspires EB community members to validate, observe, and learn more about each other without judgement.
  • Promotes DEIJ educational moments through visual art storytelling.
  • Engages the entire EB community and highlights our unification to our local city and Bay area community.
  • Encourages EB students and families to strengthen connections through self and familial identification and representation of who they are, subsequently amplifying who we are (EB).
