Who will act as Head for the 2021-2022 school year?

Sebastien Robert, the current Head of the Lower School, has been hired as the Interim Head for the 2021-2022 school year.  Mr. Robert will have full operational responsibility for the school for the 2021-2022 year, and will report to the Board of Trustees.

Will my child’s experience at EB be affected?

No. Creating a smooth experience for EB students during this transitional period is a critical priority. The Interim Head’s key goal—along with the Board of Trustees—is to ensure students’ everyday school experience will remain the same. Teachers and staff will continue to create the stable and supportive environment EB students have enjoyed.

A replacement will be hired by the Administration to be an Interim Head of the Lower School for the 2021-2022 school year.

Who will lead the search process?

The Board of Trustees’ responsibility is to select and hire our next Head of School.  The Board has established a Search Committee to direct the process and recommend a Head of School candidate to the Board.

Has EB retained a search consulting firm?

Yes. To assist in our search for the new Permanent Head of School, the Board has engaged Jim Scott from Resource Group 175 (RG175) as our search consultant. RG175 is a leader in independent school administrative recruitment, with extensive experience in placing International School leaders, including very recently at our sister French-American school, the International School of the Peninsula.

RG175  is dedicated to understanding the unique mission of each of its independent and international school clients; and then leveraging the extensive leadership experience and robust network of its consultants to identify, recruit, and support exceptional school leaders. You can also learn more about Jim Scott here. Amongst his many accolades, prior to joining RG175, Jim was the President for 25 years of Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii.

We look forward to Jim connecting with the EB community soon, whether by Zoom, or if allowed, in person. Plenty of opportunity will be provided for him to meet with groups from our school community, including parents, faculty, staff, administrators, trustees and students.  These meetings are critically important to the process, as they will provide Jim with in-depth understanding of the school’s culture, what makes EB such a special place and why the position of new head is such a unique opportunity.

At the end of the process, the Search Committee will present a candidate to be confirmed by the Board of Trustees.
