Student Council Update

The Middle School Student Council has had a busy couple of months. January was spent planning for another Spirit Day--Twin Day--and for the East Bay Independent School Association dance held on February 8. EB ended up welcoming over 200 students from six different schools. The Student Council did an outstanding job organizing decorations, snacks, and the logistics of having each school's students check in and register.

As February began, planning for Candy-Grams went into high gear. Candy-Grams are small treats or roses that students can send to other students anonymously. The week before Valentine's Day, students ordered Candy-Grams for the classmate of their choice. On February 14, student council students passed out roses and sweet treats to students right before lunch. It's a great opportunity to spread the message of friendship and thoughtfulness.

Finally, the student council was extremely happy to be able to donate all the funds received from the Student Council sponsored Dollar Drive for the victims of last autumn's Camp Fire. A representative from Lutheran Social Services came to the school to thank the student body in person and told them just how the money could be used and how much it would help. 100% of the over $650 dollars raised will go to needy families in Butte County. Coming up next month--another Spirit Day and a student DJ dance.
