Student Support

In addition to first-rate faculty, EB offers a wide range of support services to help our diverse group of learners thrive academically and socially.

Learning Specialists

Two learning specialists evaluate children for learning differences and work with children who have been diagnosed with learning differences to strengthen their reading skill, math and study skills. They act as an advocate for children having academic or behavioral difficulties and provide year-to-year follow-through for their classroom teachers. They also consult with parents who wish to discuss concerns about their child’s learning profile.

English Language Learner

An ELL teacher works with students in grades K - 8 who need support in English as a Second Language. Students will receive ESL support one to three times a week, depending on their needs, and work on vocabulary, oral fluency, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and phonemic awareness. The nature of the program allows each student to receive targeted, individualized instruction to help them learn English for both academic and social needs. Amanda holds an M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). She speaks French and Portuguese.

Dedicated French teachers offer individual support at the Lower and Middle Schools for students whose level of proficiency in French is affecting their progress in their classes.

Lower and Middle School Counseling

Two school counselors offer counseling on the many issues, big and small, that children face, and do short-term work with families as well. Depending on their needs, children may work individually or in groups. Counselors also work with parents in regard to questions and/or concerns about their child’s social and emotional development.

Restorative Justice Program

The Restorative Justice practice is a big part of the Social and Emotional Learning curriculum. During the 2016-2017 school year, SEEDS Community Resolution Center’s Elli Nagai-Rothe coached teachers and staff at the Preschool, Lower and Middle Schools. The video below shows how restorative justice is being implemented at EB.
