Message from Mr. Lyon
None of us could have known last year around this time what this year around this time would look like. It’s incredible what our students have been through and what they have ultimately achieved since last March. With a vaccine on way, we have hope for the future that we might once again all feel safe about being able to come together sooner than later, which is what all of us want. However, let’s take a moment to recognize the resiliency and perseverance of your students and of all of you. It is indeed through adversity that we find ourselves. I sincerely hope that all of you can refresh, reflect and refuel during these next two weeks. I’m grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Take some time to recognize just how wonderful you ard during this season.

The kids had fun with spirit week!

MS Student Life Update

There has been a lot of joy spreading throughout Middle School these past few weeks!

The Great EB Bake Off
The Great EB Bake Off took place on Friday, December 11th. There was a good turnout of eager and talented bakers! Under the guidance of Ms. Greer and Mr. Lyon, students created delicious sugar cookies, listened to holiday music, and played an epic round of Pictionary while the cookies baked in the oven. We were so impressed with all the bakers! Congratulations to Divya who walked away with the "Best Cookie Award!"

Spirit Week
The last week of 2020 was filled with EB Spirit as students participated in our virtual Spirit Week. Student Council leaders worked hard to put together a great virtual event for their peers! On Monday, students showed off their best sets of comfy pajamas! Tuesday was full of crazy hairstyles! Wednesday was picture day, but the student still showed their spirit in wacky and tacky outfits! Zoom screens were full of different characters and heroes on Thursday, from Ruth Bader Ginsberg to Star Wars! We rang in the spirit of the holidays on Friday, the day's theme was "have it your way holiday" and our middle school students sure got into the spirit, with a variety of holidays represented! Students showed off their spirit each day by posting a picture to the Spirit Week Padlet. Congratulations to our winning class 7B who had the highest percentage of participants throughout the week! Be on the lookout for more Spirit Day's coming your way in 2021 and check out the Padlet for this year’s Spirit Week here!

Winter Snow Globe Art Competition
Students who wanted to show off their creativity had the opportunity to take part in our Winter Snow Glove Competition. Students were tasked with creating a snow globe illustration for one of the following categories:

  • Hopes for 2021
  • Winter Wonderland
  • Step into my dreams (what do you dream about?)
  • Wildcard (anything goes!)

We had many beautiful submissions and congratulate all our artists for their hard work!

Book Club began in December as well. After meeting together and discussing option for the best book to begin with, the winner was The Pants Project by Cat Clarke. The club is looking forward to diving into this entertaining and important YA novel for the month of January.
