Before and After Care

Our Extended Day program operates between 7:30–8:15 a.m. and 3:30–6:00 p.m. for lower school children.

During “before care”, children are grouped by age and supervised while engaging in arts and crafts activities until classes start. In the afternoons, a healthy, organic snack is served and a variety of activities are organized: outdoor play, board games, and arts and crafts.

We offer several flexible options including an hourly rate or packages that are cost-saving for families. Learn more about tuition and fees.

Drop-in rate$9.30 an hour
Extended Day Package$1,200 a year (unlimited morning and afternoon care)
Extended Day + School Breaks Package$1,990 a year (unlimited morning and afternoon care and day camps during school breaks)

Étude

Étude (French for Study Hall) is offered to Elementary School students four days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00pm. Students are separated by grade and do their homework in a quiet atmosphere. Teachers are available to assist with some explanations.

Students in grades five through eight automatically go to Etude; students in grades one through four must sign up at the beginning of the semester.

Etude is billed at the same rate as Extended Day care ($9.30/hour).

Clubs and Afterschool Activities

EB offers a wide range of after-school enrichment classes for students from preschool to middle school. Class offerings vary by semester and include sports, science, visual arts, music, cooking and language classes. Some afterschool activities are conducted in French. These classes are offered on a trimester-basis at an additional cost which varies depending on the activity.

At the Middle School, students can choose among about a dozen clubs offered on a rotation basis every trimester. Those clubs all take place on Friday afternoon, they are free and mandatory, and allow students to explore a specific interest or develop a skill set in a small group setting. Clubs are mostly led by teachers, though some are students-led and include yearbook, eco-gardening, mindfulness, or robotics. Read more about the clubs available.

School Break Camps

EB offers camps for currently enrolled students during the Fall, Winter and Spring breaks. Each camp has a theme such as “Recycle Reuse”, “Science”, “Circus”, “Sports”, “Animals”...etc that guide the learning and activities throughout the day. Depending on grade level, students will go on field trips such as the Exploratorium, the Oakland Zoo, Muir Beach, Head over Heels Gymnastics. School breaks camps are in English.

Summer Camp

EB offers a summer camp for children in Preschool and Elementary school called Le Camp d’Été. This camp is open to EB and non-EB students, and allows campers to brush up on their French with our native French instructors, and take part in a variety of incredibly fun activities throughout the week such as: judo, maker, tennis, drum circle, lego, mad science, soccer, cooking, art, and weekly field trips!

EB preschool families can also register their child to a month-long summer daycare program that takes place right when school ends, typically mid-June. The four-week Daycare Camp Package costs $995. Weekly rate available.
