MULTIMEDIA
At EB, we make full use of technology. Over the last several years, we have been moving towards greater incorporation of technology into everyday teaching and learning. In September 2006, we proudly launched a one-to-one laptop program at the Middle School. The laptops function like textbooks and notebooks combined, and allow teachers to make full use of the pedagogical possibilities of CD-based textbooks and the internet (especially French-language sites) without needing to schedule their time around computer lab availability. The one-to-one laptop program also empowers different learning styles (for example, a mediocre writer may be a fine filmmaker), and fosters active involvement in learning.
Preparing students for full citizenship in a rapidly changing world is an important part of our mission, and the one-to-one laptop program allows children to gain both skills and a knowledge of responsible practices at an early age. We are very excited to be one of the first middle schools in the Bay Area to bring this opportunity to students and teachers.
Our 26,000-item library collection is designed to help students discover the world of literature and make it easier to support French acquisition at home – whether your household speaks French, English, or another language. We have a well-rounded collection of children’s books and periodicals in both French and English. All classes go to the library for story hour or activities around books. From kindergarten on, children can check out books and videos for home use. Parents also have full access to our collections, and can bring home materials to support their children’s learning or the family’s tastes.
